The soon to be released Kia Soul EV has announced proposed lease deal of $249 a month for 36 months, with $1,999 due at signing, I think the Soul EV will be a popular EV. It has very good range, funky colors, larger than some of the micro EV's like the Fiat and Spark. My local dealer says they will have their first one in about 2 weeks.
Just rec'd an email from Serramonte Ford with Special on 14 C-Max Energi $199/mo $2995 plus gov fees and taxes due at signing 36 mo lease 10500 ann miles expires 9/30. 8 to choose from.
Hello Vin. I just checked the Rydell website on the $85/mo. Spark EV offer, and I'm seeing $3390 consumer cash required as opposed to the 0 drive away on the chart. Please verify.
Was interested in the Vista BMW i3 lease deal till I looked into it and found its not $3995 drive off, but $6132.
2014 BMW i3
Stock #s 103611. $149 lease per month plus tax for 24 months on approved above average credit through BMW Financial Services. $47,400 MSRP. 1 available at this lease payment. $3,995 down. $6,132.67 due from customer at signing. 20 cents per mile over 20,000 total miles. $0 security deposit. Ends 1/31/2015.
what do you mean manufacturer rebates are gone?. can you clarify. I was at the Irvine chevy 2 days ago almost pulled the trigger but didn't have time. I wasn't able to plunk down the 3900 down in one shot and i hate wasting time at a dealership i already spent too much time.
the salesperson chased me down the street with a blank contract. I was considering maybe at the end of this month but if there's no deals then fuk it my car still can last another 200k.
The stock model they had tons of. wasn't like people was going nuts for them. but if you are going to waste time as a dealer and not honor the paper then im outta here.
I'm not directly tracking manufacturer rebates; I'm only tracking lease offers from manufacturers and dealers (though I suspect in many cases they are related). For the Volt, that great $0 down, $197/mo lease that was offered by Chevy toward the end of last month is no longer advertised on their web site.
ok, yeah the deal at chevy Irvine is still on for 99 a month 3900 down the one you posted that expired on 7/31. ill pull the trigger on a volt if my payments are 99 a month and I get carpool stickers and I can secure insurance no more than 100-130 a month in insurance and the 1500 ca rebate is still active. otherwise the ICEY 99 corolla is king sadly the only reason why im not driving an electric car.
been tracking newspaper ads for Irvine Chevy for about a week and the $99/mo, $3900 down offer is gone as well since stock # 00130546 is gone from dealer inventory. Now it's back at $139/mo, $4500 down (stock # 00134194) which.. kinda sucks compared to that old deal.
almost went down for the same car on Friday myself... =)
yeah I went down. they are really pushy. However I will wait since looks like the 2015 isn't going anywhere just like the spark till they wanted to get rid of stock and did something like SD and clearance it out
I had a funny incident at Irvine Chevy, went for a Volt test drive and the car died on the street before we got two blocks out of the driveway. No gas and no charge. We had to push it into a parking spot to be gassed up later. I ended up leasing a base Volt from Premier Chevrolet of Buena Park because they had my color (white). 39 month, 10k miles/year, 3995 down, 109/month, plus Tax, title, lic, dealer fees. Nothing unexpected except the Lease Acquisition Fee of $575. Dealer agreed to pay $275 because I was ready to walk, since it was not disclosed during email negotions. Btm line: get a detailed quote including tax, title, lic, dealer fees before you show up or you might be surprised.
I work at Bozzani VW in the Internet Department we have 3 E-Golf left for the lease specials noted on this website. Feel free to contact me Derek Reyes 909-816-6759
Me too! I've been getting wind of Bay Area deals from FFE and Volt forums, and randomly googling every so often (I'll try again this weekend). Lemme know if you know of any.... Thanks Aerial!
Hi Vin, first off great blog! I check it frequently.
I had a couple of questions for you, I'm in the market for the BMW i3 Rex - I see that the price you have listed for century bmw, but its different from their site. It only says $2999 drive off and in the post above its much more than that, can you clarify?
Is the drive off not $2999? What are the other fees involved?

Oops! I corrected/updated the list to match their current offer. Sorry about that. They way it's worded on Century West's web site, I'd say that the $2995 includes all fees and taxes due at lease signing. Thanks for the help!!!
Just check with chevy dealers in California, seems like they been out of the spark ev for a few month now. Even though the deal is still going there will be no car. Bummer. But the Fiat is going strong with many available. As of 9/15/15
I most definitely like your post; you have shared incredible information and experiences about best lease deals. An obligation of appreciation is all together for giving such an amazing information.
Not sure why you're not checking Van Nuys Fiat for lease deals. We just leased our 500e 3 weeks ago for essentially zero down (really 2500.00 down with a 2500.00 Calif state refund 4 weeks later= zero) and 182.00 per mo. They're currently offering an 85.00 per mo lease w 3400.00 down which would be 900.00 out of pocket after the Calif rebate.

Are there 36 month leases available for the i3? Sure hate to leave the CA state rebate on the table. If so, do we know where and how much they are running? Thanks! This is an amazingly helpful site.
I haven't seen any advertised, but you can negotiate lease terms with the dealers.
I did a quick google and best I could find is this, perhaps this can provide some insight: http://forums.edmunds.com/discussion/33950/bmw/i3/2015-bmw-i3-lease-questions/p8
Thanks so much for putting together this info. I was shopping primarily for a Volt given the high prices on the Leaf, but found the great deals from Hayward Nissan and got a 2015 SL for WAY less than I could find at other dealers in the area. Sales process was great, too.
The Dublin Chevy $0 down, $99/month deal looks enticing. After a call, they want about $1,600 in fees and taxes to drive off. Does anyone know if that's standard and reasonable?
It sounds somewhat reasonable; can you ask them for a breakdown? You'll have to pay taxes on the rebate(about $700), and the license is probably about $300, and there seems to always be fees that can total to $200. I might have forgotten something. Will update this post later if needed.
I suggest asking them if they can give you a quote for a $0 drive-off... based on their $1600 quote above, they should quote you $99 + $9 tax + $1600/38 = $150/mo, give or take $5 or so. Great deal for a new car, and you still get the $2500 state incentive!
They are evidently flying off the shelves at this price. They said they've gone from 22 to 2 in stock this week. My contact there reiterated that the $1,600 is non-negotiable. (I guess especially while they are flying off the shelves! :-))
This is the advertised rate. Basically, its 2500 down as they say. Then lease fee is 690, rest is 400 totalling to 3600. This accounts for the VPP discount
I would think the tax on the ~$11K rebate would add another $1K on top of the acq fee, 1st pmt, and title/reg fees to the total drive-off. But I'm just assuming since I haven't talked to the dealer directly.
This is the dealer breakdown by email "so the deal is 2500 down 590 dollar aquisition fees 400 dollars in tax, title and registration and 99 plus tax for your first payment.....". I verified many times that 3600 is the drive off and not a penny more. If there is another 1K added, then thats hiding. Let's see.
That's a sweet deal! You gonna go for it? If you want to negotiate a $0 out-of-pocket drive-off, looks like that would be around $201+tax for 35 months, give or take a few bucks...
For the 2016 Fusion Energi, i spoke with a sales rep earlier today and the down is $3500...it comes down to $3250 if you have an existing lease on a non-Ford car. And the overage is at 15c per mile. Per the website, the deal is supposed to end tomorrow, 11/19, but they might extend it until the end of the month.
I did end up picking one up for $1,600 down for taxes/fees and $99/month. You also get a $500 Bosch EVSE for free, which you can in turn sell to further reduce the effective price. (110V charging overnight seems plenty for me.) Thanks again, Vin! I would have never known about the deal if it weren't for this blog.
I was gonna go get a Leaf this morning, but heard about a sweet deal for a spark from fremont chevy. It is 1LT with fast charger. Its 1500 drive off and 89.89 monthly with taxes. In effect, it is (90*38+1500-2500)/39 = $62 monthly.
I tried to get Dublin chevy to match it but they are not even honoring their advertised deal 1600 drive off + 99 with tax. They are asking 4500 drive off for 99 with tax.
Got a Volt LT from Fremont Chevy yesterday...1500 drive off, 12K miles, 260 pm including taxes...also includes excess wear and tear coverage (which allows me to go 1600 miles over w/o having to pay anything out of pocket)..and they claim that this also includes gap coverage.
I just received an amazing deal on a 2015 Chevy Spark EV lease from Capitol Chevrolet. I'm not sure how this site is updated, but I'd be happy to share my lease paperwork if it helps. And thanks so much for this resource, as it's been invaluable in my EV search and in understanding how leases work in general.
When all is said-and--done, I walked out with an LT2 (upgraded seats, camera, on-star for 3yr), for $109/mo, $1200 drive off (including tax, title, registration), and still qualify for the $2500 rebate.
So the final damage for 36 mo is: $5015 - $2500 = 2624 -> $69.86/mo. I asked my agent if I could share this deal since it was cobbled together from multiple promos, and he agreed. And if it's alright, I'd like to share his info because he was amazingly helpful, and perhaps the only agent I've ever trusted (previous worked with him on a Volt deal): Luis Diaz 408-489-7334. I am not affiliated with Chevy or Luis in any other way.
Nice! $62 may be the best EV deal I've seen. Is that deal listed?
I used the Dublin deal to score a 2LT at Capitol Chevy. Net result = $69/mo. I'm really happy with the car so far, and super-happy about the deal. We had to cobble it together using a few competitive listings, but it worked out. I'm not sure what the differences are between 1LT and 2LT except 3yr On-star.
Glad you found this site helpful, Keith... and thanks for making it better by sharing your deal with everyone! I'm all for providing contact info for dealers and dealer reps that make it easier for EV folks like us to drive what we want to drive. Congrats on the great deal on an LT2!
If you wish to share your lease paperwork, I suggest putting it on dropbox, then including the link in your post. Thanks!
thank you to you too for putting up this blog and providing a platform for everyone to share their experiences! I will check with my sales rep if they will provide a similar deal to others.
Okay... I'm assuming you want to keep the car for longer than 3 years if you're entertaining a purchase as well as a lease. From that perspective, I'd say the SV for $11500 (21500 OTD - 7500 fed - 2500 state) is a better deal, since to own the S will take (276/mo * 35 mo) - (2500 ca rebate) + (8659 estimated residual) = $15189.
If you're only keeping the car for 3 years, I'd ask the dealer selling the SV to price out a lease with terms identical to the S, then compare with the SV.
So, confirmed with the sales rep...they will extend the same deal to anyone going to Fremont Chevy...you can ask for Devani Knox...in fact, there is a possibility to get a better deal right now since they are competing with another dealership and are lagging behind! and fwiw, w/o the excess w&t, the monthly was $248, including taxes.
The dealer won't lease the 2014 Leaf SV - not sure why, but they said "no". I am not sure if I want to keep longer than 3 years due to battery technology. I am already worried about the 80 mile range, but I do have access to pay charging stations at work.
Hmm... well, with the S, you'll be shelling out $9660 over 3 years. With the SV, you'll be shelling out $11500 after incentives, assuming you can take full advantage of the fed tax credit. So..... as long as you can sell the SV for more than the difference of $1840 after 3 years/45K miles, you'll be ahead of the game in the SV. Does that make sense? If you finance the SV, you'll need to add the finance charges over 3 years to that $1840 to determine the break-even selling price...
In any case, I think I'd go with the SV. Sounds like a heck of a deal.
Makes sense. I checked my taxes and I can take advantage of the tax credit (fully). Also, either lease or purchase, I qualify for a state rebate of $2,500. This means the lease over 3 years would be $7160. The gap is now $4,340. For some reason, I don't think the car would be worth that much in 3 years?? Crazy depreciation.
Good catch on at $2500 state rebate! Did a little more digging, I think you'll have no problem selling the SV for $5K after 3 years/45K miles. Current residual on a 2015 SV with 36K miles is $9556, and trade-in value of a 2012 SV with 45K miles in very good condition is $7011-$7770 per kbb.com...
I'm still leaning toward the SV, but I love the convenience and low up-front financial commitment of the the lease, so in the end it's a toss-up. I'd also like the SV for the added amenities over the S, and I really don't have a use or need for the QC. If I had use for the QC, I'd stick with the S. Hope this helps!
Thanks for the quick reply. Do you think with the new $30k Tesla and other manufacturers coming out with longer range BEVs impact resale values of existing Leafs? Looks like a toss up. I'll push harder to have dealer lower price on the SV, otherwise, I'll strongly opt for the lease. This forum is great!
I think (but I'm not an expert!) that any longer-range BEVs on the horizon, if they are truly $30K and offer the same or larger passenger and cargo space as the LEAF, eGolf, FFE, B250e, etc, then there will be a trickle-down effect on the price of used short-range BEVs.... but I think it will take more than a few years. But there are other factors, i.e. QC infrastructure growth, longer-range PHEVs i.e. Gen 2 Volt, that may also impact the resale of the SV with no QC. Still, after all that, I think selling a 3-year-old BEV for $5K that's clean with 45K miles should be pretty easy, especially to a parent with a high school kid that needs a car.
Are you gonna need the QC, even for only a few times a year? If so, I'd go with the S.
I tried 3 dealers including the Dublin one mentioned and none could actually produce the $0 drive off/$99 a month lease on the ad that was linked to. I'm in no rush, but thought I'd a big YMMV.
Quick clarification on the Capitol Chevy Spark EV (2LT) - the $1500 due at signing includes tax, license, etc. The link above implies tax and fees will be added on top.
Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately their ad is confusing since it states "$xxxx due at signing", and then includes small print at the bottom that says, "Prices plus government fees and taxes, any finance charges, any dealer document processing charge, any electronic filing charge and any emissions testing charge".
This sounds like an awesome deal. I will call up Luis. Clarification: By camera, do you mean backup camera ? The spark ev doesn't have a backup camera. Is this aftermarket ? If so, does it connect to the existing display or they install another one ?
Thanks Keith! That sounds like a great deal. I just called Luis to check if he can give a similar deal or match the one with Fremont Chevy. Fremont Chevrolet gives the same with 1300 down (including everything with first down payment), $99/month for 35 months. so the math comes down to 1300 + 99*35 = 4765 -$2500 (rebate) = $2265 for 3 years which comes down to ~$62.91/month
The Spark EV deal at Capitol is $1475 drive off and that includes tax & lic. During Thanksgiving weekend I was able to get one for $89/mo + tax = $97/mo w/ only $1475 up front.
I put a note in on the list that you and Keith found out through actual experience that the deal includes tax and lic on the drive-off. I'll change the math later today to reflect that. Thanks for the help!
Hey Keith - since Marty concurred below, I will include your clarification on the list. Math to be updated later today. Thanks so much for the help, you guys ROCK!
Yeah, this seems to be true on Gen 2 Volts and on B-Class Electric Drives. I just picked up a 2015 B-Class ED and had a heck of a time coming close to what others were getting in the Bay Area!
1) $12,452. due at signing, $4865 after $7500 rebate . First month's payment paid by Manufacturer. Plus tax and license. $0 security deposit. Customer is liable for a mileage charge of $.20 per mile over 22,500 miles and for excess wear and tear. $2500 California electric vehicle rebate and HOV decal available to registered lessee. Restrictions apply. for details see: http://driveclean.ca.gov/pev/costs/vehicles.php On approved credit. Expires 12/31/2015
Awesome idea. Although it's currently only available in Los Angeles, the screen shots on the website and app store shows SF so it's a little confusing. Looking forward to this expanding to new markets!
So the volt at dublin chevy for $99/ mo (see here: http://www.dublinchevrolet.com/Special/new/2016-Chevrolet-Volt-5dr_HB_LT-2713773723-Volt___Only_$99/month!-Dublin-CA/63096290) 36 month lease $10,145 total due at lease inception which includes zero security deposit , plus tax&lic. $3995 customer cash down and $6800 CCR.
99*36 = 3564, + 3995 down = 7559 total + tax on 7559+6800 incentives = 7559+1292.31 = 8851.31 means there is 1293.69 in fees. I'm assuming 595 acquisition+395 disposition + title/registration/ doc fee = 303.69. So total comes out to 281.81 a month. Pretty steep...
I'm curious... steep compared to what? I think it's a good deal relative to other Volt ads out there. The $10145 total due at signing and $6800 CCR in the fine print doesn't make sense to me, so I'd just start with the $3995 + tax/lic, $99/mo for 35 more months at the dealership and make sure they don't add more to it (i.e. should include the acq fee). The dealer discount on the Volt from Dublin on a purchase is $4000, so I'd make sure I'm getting at least that when all the numbers are printed on the contract.

thanks for this blog: flew up to San Jose yesterday from LAX to lease 2016 base model Volt. Swapped the $99/mo., $4,999 down all-in for $178/mo plus tax, and $1,500 down, so my net after CA rebate is 0 down, $196/mo for 36 mo after tax. Could not get any SoCal dealers, including biggest, Rydell, to come anywhere near Capitol Chevy in San Jose. Couldn't get one w comfort package, so missing out on the heated seats...but 2016's disappearing fast. You saved me $$$ over three years. cheers...will be relying on you again when they start leasing Bolts!
1. Vin: read your reply to my wife...she was amused, and now she hopes I am done spending 24/7 researching cars. 2. Ton Tonn:
took advantage of one of the last 2016 base models on the lot, that had extra incentives.

We got a 2015 KIA SOUL EV for zero down and $239 a month ,w 12K a year,3 year lease from Escondido KIA. We live in the Phoenix area and they don't even have the SOUL EV in Arizona yet. I would buy the SOUL at the end of the lease but we are ordering a Tesla model 3 for less. Super Chargers are great.
Thanks for the details! You are helping me gather info to perhaps write another lease article (i.e. lease vs buy). BTW, is US Bank still doing the leasing? That's who I have on my 2014 Volt, and I read in gm-volt.com that they are open to negotiating the residual.
The kind folks at Van Nuys Fiat are ripping people off. They claim there is no money down. Still, they include the $2500 rebate amount, but that's okay. It's right there in the fine print. But THEN, Van Nuys tries to tell you that you have to "pay tax on the rebate." And that tax comes to about $2400. This is a lie and intended to bump up the lease rate. Taxes on the rebate is absurd. You pay a tax on the full purchase price of the lease, not the car. Van Nuys Fiat is B.S.ing customers who don't know better. That little $2400 "tax" amounts to more than $66 a month in addition to the lease.
Yeah, that does sound fishy.... Unfortunately rebates are taxed(in CA, at least), but $2400? That implies that the rebate is almost $27,000! My guess is that the rebate is maybe $10K, so tax on that would only be about $900.
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I suspect you should be able to find a better deal than that.
Hi Vin - As a current lease owner of a 500e, I can unequivocally state that California taxes lease vehicles at 8% of the base lease price. My current lease (from last year) on the 500e provides for a use tax of 8% at $7.33 a month. There is a reference to a tax on the capital reduction, but that was only $777. Perhaps that is what you are referred to?
There are also registration and title fees paid to the state. But you are right in that all of this was incorporated into the down payment that was covered by Fiat in the rebate. I have been quoted a $90 lease rate for 36 months, 10K miles per year and $2500 down on the 500e.
The salesperson who insisted on the extra $2400 at Van Nuys Fiat is Baxter. Stay away from him.
Follow up. I was called by some other person in the dealership. They claim that the small print addresses all the extra charges. This, of course, is BS because other dealers don't tack on all the extra fees blowing past $2400. The dealership is sketchy to say the least. When they advertise $0 down, they can't claim another $2400 in "taxes and fees." Stay away from Van Nuys Fiat.
Rebates and incentives to the consumer are applied toward cap reduction, so yes it sounds to me like the $777 was tax on the rebate + any down... if $0 down then the tax was all on the rebate.
Yes, their ad can be misleading. They don't even use the word "down", but they mention that it can be had for $68. Are they talking about the down payment, the drive-off (aka TOTAL due at signing), or reiterating the monthly payment?
It's bad enough that they bury in the fine print that we have to cough up the $2500 CVRP rebate when we get the check. So it's really a $2500 down + tax on cap reduction due to Fiat rebate + tax on the $2500 cap reduction due to $2500 down + license + $68 first payment + any doc fees. Why can't they just say that?
There is much confusion as to what dealers mean when they say "down" and "due at signing", so folks like us assume what they mean. It is only when we call them for clarification or details that we find out what the words in the ad really come out to in dollars and cents. And I've had a couple of instances like you described above where two people from the same dealer have different answers on what the offer really is. Frustrating.
Can you estimate the value of "additional" fees like tax and license in the Best Dealer Offers (3/19) table? These totaled $2k+ for a Leaf with two dealers in the Bay Area that I recently spoke with. $2k is a substantial share of the total price, so it would be help to see at least an estimate.
(I posted a similar comment this morning, but I don't see it. Feel free to delete this one if redundant.)
Hi Vin, I really appreciate your diligence in keeping this lease page updated. I know that it must be a chore at times.
I have a current deal that I think other places will match, but I am waiting until March 29th, when the California rebate changes. At that time, the CVRP will become income based. For those of us who are of moderate means, this means an extra $1500 rebate in addition to the $2500 standard CA rebate.
If you make less than $60,270, for instance with three family members, you will qualify for the additional $1500 rebate. (See http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aqip/cvrp.htm) (300% of the federal poverty rate is outlines here: http://familiesusa.org/product/federal-poverty-guidelines)
I think, in my case, it is worth waiting a week or so in order to collect another $1500.
My current deal is a lease conquest for $2500 down, no tax, acq., fees or such, $96 a month + about $8 tax, 10,000 miles per year, 36 months. Total 3 year cost $5,920 before rebate of $4,000. Actual cost after rebate is $1,920.
Once my deal is made, I'll let you know dealer and salesperson name.
The problem with these "miscellaneous" fees is that the dealer can make up anything they want. The "acquisition" fee is a prime example. There really isn't anything that can be reliably estimated. What I insist on in my quotes is a firm down payment dollar amount. There are no "additional" fees, except for the state tax on the monthly fee that ranges from 8-9.75% dependent upon county.
Be firm with the dealer that you don't want to see a bunch of junk added to the lease papers. Make sure the dealer pays for this and incorporates it either into the down payment or the lease. Otherwise, it's just another way to rip you off.
But to answer your question about miscellaneous fees, here are numbers from my lease last March of a 500e: Monthly payment $99 Registration Fees $209 Title Fees $81 Acquisition N/A (I have no idea what this is really for. The dealer ignored it.) Document Processing $80 CA Tire Fee $7 Electronic Vehicle Registration (not a govt. fee) $29 Tax Document Fee $6.40 Tax80 on Rebate (Capitalized Cost Reduction) $777
These all TOTAL $1,190 (not including first month lease cost)
Ryan - I'll try to work that info into the table in the next week or two. As Unplugged is alluding to, it's not always straightforward because the dealers and mfrs don't always publish all the info I need. Fortunately the LEAF info seems to be readily available. The 500e was a mystery to me until Unplugged put the above numbers out here (confirmed my suspicion that there is no up-front acquisition fee on the 500e - which is nice!). Stay tuned....
How is your top lease deal table organized? Fremont Chevy still shows SparkEV 36 mo lease for $79/mo + $1495 until Apr, but your table shows far less attractive deal as best.
Fixed it! Apparently I inadvertently deleted Fremont's offer from the spreadsheet I use to sort the deals. Thanks sparkev, I really appreciate the help.
Interesting. I just got a quote from Santa Monica Fiat with a hefty acquisitions fee. The following is direct from the dealer:
Down payment - $2500 (in approximately 45 days you will receive the state rebate back which would make this $0 net) Acquisition Fee from bank - $1195 Drives (tax, tag, license, first payment, etc) - $1,655 Total upfront - $5350 ($2850 net after rebate) Monthly payment - $68 + tax = $74.12 TOTAL 3 year cost of leasing with those numbers: $5444.20
Hi I was wondering if you could give a break down of the Chevy Spark EV deal ($84 a month). I live in Southern California and the lowest I have been able to find is about $140 a month. Even if it is expired I would like to know for future reference. Thanks
Hi Darrell - I used leasehackr.com's lease calculator to estimate the Spark EV lease. Used the following: $25995 MSRP $25995 purchase price $9850 taxed incentive(got this from Dublin, Community and Mark Christopher lease ads) 10,000 miles/year $0 down
I left everything else as default (i.e. acq fee, money factor, etc).
Curiously, the same #s come out to an $81/mo today. I'm actually thinking about pulling that estimate from the list and using something else (but what?), since only Dublin, Fremont and Rydell beat that estimate. I would expect all dealer-advertised leases to beat it, especially Mark Christopher.
Do you have the details of the $140/mo lease offer you got, i.e. total rebate amount?
That does sound high; according to leasehackr.com the Chrysler/Fiat acq fee is $595, but I'm starting to take their lease calculator data with a grain of salt.
Have you gotten any other competing quotes in your area? Torrance Fiat has a $69/mo, $3500 + tax/lic/doc at signing (does not mention acq fee and 1st pmt, so it should be included). So it sounds like it might be about $250 better than your SM Fiat deal, if the car is identically optioned.
Thanks for the info, Franz - I'll now add SM Fiat and Torrance Fiat to the list of dealers I track.
No other quotes yet. I didn't ask for this quote; I just inquired generally and appreciated the specificity of the quote from SM Fiat. I actually am torn between the Fiat and the eGolf which would be a better car for carting around my daughter and her friends. I'm really hoping to see a return of the eGolf deals that were around in November.
At this point I primarily depend on folks to tell me if they see a deal online that I can link to (thanks to all that have helped!). It even helps when folks mention where they got a good deal, because I found that often those dealers are the ones that post ads online that contain EVs.
I do try googling for deals in states other than CA, but after two years of doing this all we have are one or two dealers each in CO, MI, MD, VA, HI, MA (my latest find - Quirk Chevy in Braintree), OR, NV, and NY.
Kia just changed their lease deal again on the EV Soul base. It's now only $8,083 Total Out Of Pocket Cost To Lease (down from $9,163 TOPCL). It's now $1999/down+$169x36/mo instead of $1999down+$199/mo. The dealers are ready to take $3-$4k off the MSRP on top of that. So take another $75-100 off the monthly payment figures quoted above. The electric car is here. :)
Hi Phil - probably, since they seem to have the lowest advertised offer this week. Please note that I've updated the data on the top lease deals table - discovered an error in my spreadsheet that did not add in the $595 acquisition fee to the total lease cost.
If you're not near Glendale, I suggest using this data as a negotiation tool with your local dealer. Worked for me when I got our Volt and B-Class ED... actually got a better deal from a dealer five miles from home that was serious about keeping about business away from the big Valley dealers. Good luck!
I've contacted a couple of Los Angeles dealers and will report back on numbers. If they are, indeed, "ready to take $3-4K off the MSRP" and thus reduce those lease payments I shall be surprised and pleased.
I'm thinking that it's not. 36*250 + 2500 = $11000+tax+lic+doc over the 3 years. Factory lease deal listed is $3K less, and the DCFC option is only $1675. If it were me, I'd say $0 out of pocket, $250/mo+tax for the remaining 35 months would be a great deal that should be achievable, depending on the demand in your area. A fair deal, if you really really want one right now and availability in your area is limited, would be the factory lease deal + DCFC cost, which is about $50/mo less than your quote. Again, this is just one opinion... if you have time I'd ask the folks on the eGolf forum:
Well that's definitely better than the factory lease deal, but it's hard to tell exactly how much without them giving you the capitalization cost... somewhere between $1000 and $2000, depending on whether the inventive is taxed (because it's a rebate) or not taxed (an incentive direct to the dealer). But it's a great starting point! Can't wait to see what the other dealer says...
Hey vin, sorry for the late response. Ended up driving down and haggling with the manager. Didn't do a deal because they only have 2LTs (and a lot of them) and were asking too much. Got as low as $99 a month, $1500 drive off.
Your numbers look spot on. However, I believe the purchase price is closer to $24,000. The dealer is dropping $3,000. Just got a call today and now he is stating $70 plus $1500. Of course, this being a dealer I take very little of what they say over the phone with any merit. Especially, considering the first time I talked with them they initially said $71 a month $1500 out the door, which jumped to $200 a month and had to haggle down to $90.
Just looked it up. They have this advertised on the website. $68 a month $1500 down. http://www.dublinchevrolet.com/VehicleDetails/new-2016-Chevrolet-Spark_EV-Hatch_2LT_%28Automatic%29-Dublin-CA/2743518793
If anyone ends up going down there, I at the very least would try to get it $1500 out the door, not down.
Hoping to hear your deal went through, Unplugged. Your lease sounds excellent and I'd love to contact whomever you got it from. My best efforts so far are $400 higher than yours. (Actually $1400 higher, as I have no lease conquest bonus, but still $400 higher in dealer profit.)
We're now leaning toward the Fiat 500e or the Kia Soul EV. I have one more Fiat deal to report, in case folks are interested. First, though, the deals right now strongly favor folks with other makes on lease now, as that takes $1000 off the top and does not seem to be being applied in creative other ways to those not leasing other cars.
The March Deal from Fiat of Santa Monica: Down payment - $2500 or $3500 (depending on whether you have a conquest lease) Acquisition Fee from bank - $1195 Drives (tax, tag, license, first payment, etc.) - $1,655 Total upfront - $5350 ($2850 net after rebate) Monthly payment - $68 + tax = $74.12 TOTAL 3 year cost of leasing with those numbers: $5444.20 or about $6529 (w/o conquest)
Fiat of Glendale Current Offer (not in writing yet) Down: $2500 All drives: $1400 Total upfront: $3900 Rebate: -$2500 New upfront cost: $1400 Monthly payment: $3780 ($99 + tax= $108 x 35) Total 3 year cost of leasing: $5180 (plus disposition fee)
I think the latter is about as good as it gets right now without the conquest fee. Anything better out there?
I just talked with Fiat of Orange County. Their deal seems better:
Total drive offs: $3500 ($2500 plus $1000 because of no conquest) Rebate: -$2500 Monthly payment: $3750 ($99 + tax= $107 x 35) Total cost of leasing: $4750
Yes, and imagine if you were getting the $4000 CA rebate because you make less than $35K alone or $73K for a family of four. Then the total cost of leasing would be $3250. Amortized over 36 months that's $90 a month. Very possibly less than insurance. And do that same thing with the Dublin Chevrolet deal on the Spark and, unless I'm missing something, the number are this:
Down: $1500 Drive offs: ~$400 Monthly: 67+tax x 35 = $2555 Total cost: $4555 Rebate: $4000 Net cost: $555 Net cost per month: $15.41
Fifteen bucks! There have GOT to be single folks out there, or families of up to four who could do with a new car for $15 a month plus $50 max in electricity.
Hi scratch812. When I was at the Kia dealership, yesterday, I saw a 2015 blue EV+ with 11700 miles on it, looking perfect. I thought, oooh, I wonder how much it is. They were asking 19,995 for it and I don't see how it makes sense to spend $20K on a used car when I could get a new 2016 for $36800 MSRP minus the Fed $7500 and the CA $2500 which brings the price down to $27K. Are they selling for full MSRP? Anyway, I'll keep you posted as things develop, though I don't thin I can beat the Fiat of OC Fiat lease deal.
Just picked up a 2017 Volt with Leather and Comfort package from Fremont Chevy for $1200 drive off and $227/mo...way better than what everyone else was offering.
Hi, from Oregon here. Looking at a Spark EV deal. I think it's good, as I was able to bounce it off another dealer to get it reduced to $77/mo with the same $500+DMV fees down. But I have a question regarding the fine print, namely what the heck does "+ rebate" mean in the down-payment section? I have to pay MORE for a rebate? Uhh what? Plus I don't even know what rebate its talking about. (Oregon here, no State rebates or incentives tax credits for EVs). Here's the original fine print that I was able to get reduced by another dealer:
*Payments based on 36 payments. Cap cost $13,964 after $9,850 factory rebate plus $595 acquisition fee. $500 + Lic & Title down cash or trade + rebate. No security deposit. Total due at inception $500 + Lic & Title + Rebate. Total lease charge $13,518 + Rebate, Residual value $11,233. 10k miles per year. MSRP $26,754. Early termination fee $250. exp 4/30/16
For the sake of brevity, the bit that caught my eye was "$2,800 incentive for clients having their own source of funding on MY2015 and MY2016." Does the "own source of funding" mean I can't use this with a lease, or even if I were to purchase I couldn't do 0% APR financing with them either? Thanks
The Dublin Deal for the Spark had this to say in their "Disclosures" section:
67 / per month plus tax 36 month lease $11350 total due at lease inception which includes zero security deposit , plus tax&lic. 1500 customer cash down , and $9850 CCR Lesee responsible at lease end for mileage in excess of 10000 per year at 25 cents per mile 5 at this lease Lease terms end or change at 30000 miles
Can anyone confirm that they've actually gotten it out the door with $1500 or do you really have to bring $11,350 to get the $67 a month deal, which seems like an awesome amount of Bait n Switch
God, even after doing all this research on lease terminology, it's still confusing as heck. The way I read that, I wouldn't even pay attention to the "$11350 total due at lease inception" because that to me makes no sense. The $67/mo with $1500 cash down does, however. That lines up close to all the best deals I'm seeing up here in Oregon. Up here, it's $88/mo with $500 down, or $101/mo with no down. All three of those add up to right around $3700 total, not including any DMV or Disposition fees.
You guys get it great down there in Cali, 'cus I guess you got some sort of state rebate up to $4000?! Geeze! We don't get diddly up here in Oregon, not 1 state incentive. I guess we technically don't have to pay sales tax, but then again our income tax is higher, so that's a wash. Eh, whatever, it's the best I can do being an Oregon citizen I guess.
On a different topic, altogether, Vin, you asked a few posts up why this would be such a great deal for a Single guy. I'm not so sure it would be, though. Hear me out:
Single people are going to most likely need to own a second car for those extended trips. Even if they get a crappy beater car, they're still going to have to pay liability insurance for that car plus the new EV they'll lease (and Collision/Comprehensive for the EV). That'll add, let's say at best, 40% more cost to their Insurance premium every 6mos. In my particular case, because there's no State incentives here in Oregon, I'd have to pay around $4K to lease the vehicle + another $1500 in insurance over the course of 3 years. That's $5.5k total over 3 years it would cost me to own a second vehicle. If you can get that Cali rebate, that helps a lot, but still I'm not sure it's the best choice.
If single people are, then, dedicated to getting into EVs, then wouldn't it be better if they got a used Volt for $12k? I highly doubt the used Volt is going to drop $5.5k in value to make up for the lost $5.5k cost to lease an EV.
Anyways, long story short, I think its defintiely better financially for single people to get a used Volt if they want to experience EV but also need a long-range gas car. . rather than acquire one of these super cheap leases and have to maintain two vehicles.
That's pretty good deal, Tugger... the "+ rebate" means you don't get to take the rebate to the bank and deposit it; you'll have to turn that $9850 over to the dealer. I guess they put that there because some folks think they have their cake and eat it too. Or something like that. Bottom line is it sounds like it's $500+lic+title out of your pocket, then $77/mo for 35 more months. Can you let me know which dealer after you've made your deal?
It depends on one's lifestyle and where he/she lives. For city dweller with access to DCFC who doesn't travel far (under 80 miles most days, 300 miles a day sometimes), $2K/yr to lease DCFC capable EV (eg. SparkEV) is fine. One can rent gas car for those sporadic camping trips far from DCFC. Assming 4 rentals per year and $200 each rental, that's $800/yr, or $2.8K for EV + rental. To recoup $12K used Volt (assuming paid in cash), it'd take 4.2 years. In that time, better EV would be available.
The above chart is misleading. It should say Down and not drive off.
I talked to Dublin Chevorlet for their Spark 2LT (no 1Lts available) and they were offering $2995 (drive off, which $1500 was the down) and $67 a month + sales tax (about $10/month). Colma Chevorlet was about $2400 (drive off) with 1LT being about $67+sales tax and 2LT+DCFC being about $81 + sales tax. +395 disposition fee for Colma Chevorlet. I have no talked to Fremont or San Jose yet but similar deals are posted on their websites.
It seems the basic cost in norcal averages to $3000 drive off with about $70 to $90 a month. So far still waiting to pull the trigger.
Sometimes the $$$ amount in the drive-off isn't just the down. Sometimes it includes the acquisition fee. One dealership includes license. But anytime the drive-off amount isn't all-inclusive, I'll always say so (i.e. for Dublin the drive-off is "+tax, lic"). My intent is to represent what is published on the website in that table, without making any assumptions other than adding tax to a monthly payment for an offer that states an all-inclusive drive-off. I do take some liberties when putting together the "Best Offers" tables, in an attempt to compare apples to apples. Life would be much easier if all dealers and manufacturers used some form of standardized lingo, but they don't. That's why I always include the link to the information, so y'all can make sure you have the most current info from the data source before haggling with the dealers.
That being said, if you do find an error in any of the data or calculations here, please let me know so I can fix it. Thanks!
Just a heads-up copy paste from Boardwalk in Redwood City. Can confirm all fees and upfront taxes included, only missing number is monthly tax. (DMV, doc, upfront tax, 1st mo pmt, bank fee are included in @signing).
Boardwalk Chevrolet is pushing hard to sell out of Volts and Spark EVs by the end of the month, because we have to pay our taxes too!
The Volt is by far the most enjoyable, most technologically advanced plug-in hybrid on the market, with over 50 miles of all-electric range and no noticeable drop in performance once the gas engine turns on.
These 2017 Volts can be leased starting at only $139 per month (OAC + tax) for 35 months with $3,750 due at signing - this includes all DMV fees, acquisition and bank fees, and dealer fees based on Redwood City registration. This is on a 36 month, 10,000 mile per year lease. I should also note that all of our stock Volts are of course eligible for a $1,500 rebate from the state of California, effectively reimbursing most of your down payment!
Prefer all-electric freedom? The 82-mile Spark EV is available with provisions for fast charging in a fetching black with 2LT package. This beautiful little electric rocket is only $49 per month (OAC + tax), all other above terms being the same. Of course the Spark EV is eligible for $2,500 back from the state of California!
Please get in touch with me soon so we can schedule a viewing, or if you have any additional questions.
Note that the above quotes are on approved credit, (Volt: for current competitive or loyalty lessees), with Redwood City registration. This quote is valid through the 30th of April, 2016 but all the best colors are selling fast. Please get in touch for additional terms and details.
Thanks Ben!!! Can you provide a link to where this information is online? I'll go ahead and link to your web site when I update for this weekend's deals.
I think your BMW X5 40e 3 year total (Weatherford BMW) is not calculated correctly. $459 x 36 = 16,524 (plus the huge deposit they want) adds to more than your $17K total. Thanks!
Oops! It's a 2-year lease with $6500 down, so the total is correct but the duration and drive-off are not. Correction will be reflected tonight. Thanks Ton! I really do appreciate your help.
Just wanted to report my lease. Kia EV Base model (not the lower end EV-E or the top end +), 36 months, 10,000 miles a year, from Kia of Sherman Oaks.
Drive off: $3000 (including down, taxes, license, delivery, etc.) Monthly: $170 (including tax and about $17 for lease protection which my wife wanted) Total cost: $8950 (minus $2500 for me with my CA rebate)
It's not ideal, but I needed it now and it's far less than the nationally advertised lease (which, for this model, is $199/month plus tax and about a $3500 drive off for a total cost of about $11100, and that's without lease protection which is $600). Anyone interested in a Kia lease can use this as a baseline. Oh, incidentally, Kia leases include gap protection.
Congrats on SoulEV! I think that's a far better car than Fiat. With DCFC, you won't feel the range anxiety as much, and actually drive several hundred miles a day (or even 1000 miles if you're brave). I often drive from San Diego to LA using SparkEV, round trip distance of about 250 miles. This is only possible due to DCFC. If not, I'd be taking my gas car far more often.
Hi sparkev, yes, that was a major part of my decision. For example, I'm in Hollywood and I'm camping in Joshua Tree over Memorial Day weekend. That would be impossible in the Fiat, both for lack of space and for lack of DCFC. With the Kia, I can get our gear in the car and make it to a ChaDeMo charger in Banning or Cabezon and stop for half an hour and have enough power to get to Joshua Tree and back to the charger again (though just barely). (There's also a solar charger in Joshua Tree I want to check out.) I'm pretty excited.
I got the factory lease of $139+$0 down, and total at sign was about $450: $150 for first month payment and rest for license, registration, carpool sticker, etc. That was without any negotiating. I think $1286 is too high; it should be under $500 for factory lease. If higher, go with others that require less down, or go to Quality Chevy at Escondido. While Quality Chevy doesn't have super low deals, they give fair deal for factory lease.
thanks for assembling all this information and advice, vin. it's a huge timesaver! I've also been comparing lease options and appreciate your attention to detail.
We bought an e-Golf late last year and absolutely love it although now i wish we'd negotiated for more miles! Looking to buy a PHEV this year although we might wait for the Hyundai Ioniq and Toyota Prius Prime. Keep up the excellent work.
Thanks for the kind words, they go a long way as far as motivating me to make sure my math is correct!
I made the same err in judgement as you did with my first BEV - not enough of a mileage allowance.. So what did I do? Add a PHEV to the fleet. I guess great minds think alike. :-)
Tim - so sorry I just saw your post! Sure, I'm happy to share...
It's a 2015 with the premium package and a backup camera, maintenance included. Deal was $374/mo for 36 months, tax included (so about $341/mo +tax). Total drive-off was just the first payment. At the time there was a $3000 dealer incentive, that helped drive the cost way below the published factory lease deal. Got it in November 2015, just as the 2016 B250e started appearing on dealer lots. Got it at Mercedes of Valencia.
When I read up on lease deals on mybclasselectric.com, it seemed to me that the best deals on a B-Class happen in the summertime... so your timing may be perfect.
I absolutely love the car. Unfortunately my wife does too, so I don't get to drive it as much as I'd like.
Good luck! Let me know if you have any other questions.
I have discovered that some dealers add an extra $500 to the "drive-off" total if you have never leased before. A Chevy dealer in Sacramento did that to a friend of mine. If she had been a previous lessee, she would have paid the drive-off shown on your reports. That should be advertised in BOLD text, rather than suddenly appearing after someone has driven quite a few miles to get the best lease offer.
sparkev - I thought the $9850 rebate was taxable. Can you check your lease agreement? The rebate on my RAV4 EV and Focus Electric were taxed, then rolled into the monthly payment. I thought it was the same for my Volt; I'll check when I get home tonight. On my B-Class the incentive was not a rebate to the consumer, it was an incentive directly to the dealer, so I wasn't taxed (which was nice!). Maybe the $9850 rebate on the Spark EV is a dealer incentive? Or, what I suspect is that maybe you got about $800 off of the factory deal.
That sucks. Dealer should have mentioned it in their ad, or during the phone conversation or email before heading to the dealer. Unfortunately as consumers, it's upon to us to read the fine print and ask all the right questions. Or be prepared to walk away.
Considering I didn't do a bit of haggling, I don't think I got anything special. I tried, they said no, I wanted SparkEV, no more haggling. It's $139/mo + $11 for tax, total of $150/mo. Drive off is as I mentioned, about $450. It could be that cap reduction (about $7000) is taxed, which may have to be paid at lease end if I decide to keep the car. But as a lease, there is nothing about anything extra.
Regarding the Fiat of Thousand Oaks offer of the last couple of days: it was an error. I contacted them because my wife has gotten interested in EVs after experiencing our new Kial Soul. Here is their response:
"The Fiat Ad that you saw on our website was actually a Typo and was incorrect. It has since been corrected."
The real offer is as you have it except it is $2999 down, not $1999. I wonder if they were legally required to honor that deal while it was still up on the website.
Thanks Frank, I updated the list. What a bummer, I thought maybe they were setting a trend. Interestingly, they still have the best 500e deal, but only by about $70 over 3 years.
Good to hear that your wife is interested in EVs! I was at a focus group last month with other Mercedes B-Class owners, and some of us were there surprised to see that over a third of the group had two or more EVs in the family. Apparently driving an EV is contagious.
Thanks for your information. Used it to get a great lease deal on a Spark EV (1LT, with DCFC fast charging option) from a local dealer (Victory Chevrolet, Petaluma) - showed them the Dublin Chevrolet deal and they met it, pretty much. We ended up with $0 driveoff, $149/month for 36 months, absolutely everything included.
Glad to be of help, Therese. Congrats on achieving a great deal from your local dealer! If they're anything like my local Chevy dealer, I bet they really appreciate capturing your business.
Thanks for the heads-up! I'll update the dealer deals tonight. Weatherford seems to be quick with updating their website, so I'm sometimes out of sync with them since I usually only update on Fridays.
Looks like they pulled their SV offer from their website as of today (5/21). Was the $2999 down, $159/mo SV offer on their website when you talked to them? With $2999 down, I'd expect the total drive-off (including tax, lic, doc) to be about $4500, not $5600...

Agreed! That lease deal, combined with its 104-mile city range and 19 cu ft of cargo space, should generate a whole lot of interest.

Thanks Mike!!! I added the offer to our list! BTW, I'll add the Kia Soul EV this weekend... it's a bit of a pain to add another row...
Hello Vin.
I just checked the Rydell website on the $85/mo. Spark EV offer, and I'm seeing $3390 consumer cash required as opposed to the 0 drive away on the chart. Please verify.
I corrected the typo... Thanks Gary!
Was interested in the Vista BMW i3 lease deal till I looked into it and found its not $3995 drive off, but $6132.

Thanks for the help, Morgan! I made the correction. Sorry about that.
what do you mean manufacturer rebates are gone?. can you clarify.
Congrats on the great deal! I'll put Premier on my radar.
Great negotiation tip, thanks!!!
I'm not surprised that happened at Irvine based on my experiences there.
I work at Bozzani VW in the Internet Department we have 3 E-Golf left for the lease specials noted on this website. Feel free to contact me Derek Reyes 909-816-6759
Thanks Derekl! How much more will it cost per month for a 10000mi/yr or 12000 mi/yr allowance?
vin, Great post! Would like to see more deals for the SF Bay Area. Awaiting your next update.. :)
Thanks,

Oops! I corrected/updated the list to match their current offer. Sorry about that. They way it's worded on Century West's web site, I'd say that the $2995 includes all fees and taxes due at lease signing. Thanks for the help!!!
I like the $138/mo Spark EV lease that expires 9/30, when they haven't had any to lease in my area (SoCal) for months.
Yeah, I'm on SoCal too... nothing within a 250 mile radius, according to Chevy's web site.
Just check with chevy dealers in California, seems like they been out of the spark ev for a few month now. Even though the deal is still going there will be no car. Bummer.
But the Fiat is going strong with many available. As of 9/15/15
2016 e-Golf SE - $99 per month (36 months- 7500 per) $3545 due at signing.
I'm wondering if yo can get this with Carplay. First 2016 e-Golf I've seen.
Sunnyvale VW
http://www.sunnyvalevw.com/Current_New_Car_Specials
Confirmed that Sunnyvale VW has multiple 2016 3-Golfs in stock with Carplay. Bigger display and HUGE difference in the interface.
Lease specials are listed on website above. $99/month+ for S model and $199+ for SEL (10K miles)
Thanks Ton! I saw the SE offer. Where did you see the SEL offer?
SEL offer expired on Sept 30th. I'm sure it will come up again.
Congrats on your new 500e! Thanks for the tip, I'll start tracking Van Nuys Fiat.

Thanks for all the i3 and eGolf info!!! I will update tomorrow.
No problem - I did recall that there is no CA state rebate on the i3 24 month leases. So maybe not that great of a deal.
Are there 36 month leases available for the i3? Sure hate to leave the CA state rebate on the table. If so, do we know where and how much they are running? Thanks! This is an amazingly helpful site.
I haven't seen any advertised, but you can negotiate lease terms with the dealers.
I did a quick google and best I could find is this, perhaps this can provide some insight:
http://forums.edmunds.com/discussion/33950/bmw/i3/2015-bmw-i3-lease-questions/p8
I'll try to look for more info tonight...
Thanks so much for putting together this info. I was shopping primarily for a Volt given the high prices on the Leaf, but found the great deals from Hayward Nissan and got a 2015 SL for WAY less than I could find at other dealers in the area. Sales process was great, too.
Awesome! Congrats on getting a great deal!
Thanks for the thoughts!
They are evidently flying off the shelves at this price. They said they've gone from 22 to 2 in stock this week. My contact there reiterated that the $1,600 is non-negotiable. (I guess especially while they are flying off the shelves! :-))
Hayward Nissan has 99 monthly and 3600 drive off. The latter includes acquisition fee, tax, title, regn & 1st month. Sounds like a great deal ?
I'd say so! That's better than what they're advertising online since your drive-off includes everything. Did you have to work hard to negotiate that?
Thanks Maven! I added a note to indicate that the offer listed here includes the competitive lease rebate.
You are welcome! Congrats on the great deal!
Awesome, Maven! Congrats! I hope others looking for a 2016 Volt benefit from you sharing this.
This is where I am at with respect to quotes.
New 2014 SV for $21,500 OTD (this does NOT include Federal Credit and CA state rebate) = effectively $10K, am I missing something?
2015 S w/QC for $276 per month (includes taxes), $0 drive off, 36 months, and 15k miles (still qualifies for CA state rebate)
Any advice on which deal is better?
Dublin advertises $0 down (still need to pay tax, lic, fees to drive off) as opposed to $0 drive-off. Did they at least produce a $0 down offer?
Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately their ad is confusing since it states "$xxxx due at signing", and then includes small print at the bottom that says, "Prices plus government fees and taxes, any finance charges, any dealer document processing charge, any electronic filing charge and any emissions testing charge".
Bay area dealers have way much better deals than socal. I'm in socal and can't even find Chevy spark available for lease.
Fremont Chevrolet gives the same with 1300 down (including everything with first down payment), $99/month for 35 months. so the math comes down to
1300 + 99*35 = 4765 -$2500 (rebate) = $2265 for 3 years which comes down to ~$62.91/month
The Spark EV deal at Capitol is $1475 drive off and that includes tax & lic. During Thanksgiving weekend I was able to get one for $89/mo + tax = $97/mo w/ only $1475 up front.
Thanks Marty!!! Congrats!!!
For the first i3 offer for 5k + 49/mo, the drive-off total is 8750 for no new grad and 7750 for new grad. so there's 2750 worth of tax and fees.

Has anyone found any good i3 Rex lease deals in the Rocky Mountain states? Shopping from Wyoming for an i3 is proving difficult.
Here's an i3 REX Giga advertised by a dealer in Boulder:
http://www.gebhardtbmw.com/newspecials.aspx
Here's another dealer with a i3 REX lease deal in Colorado:
http://www.schompbmw.com/specials/new.htm
I'll start tracking these two dealers.
You're welcome!
This might be the best "lease" deal ever for SparkEV, maybe for any car: FREE! :-)
http://news.yahoo.com/waivecar-lets-rent-electric-car-192825996.html
Whoa! That's pretty cool!

Wow, congrats on the great deal! Glad to be part of the process. Showing this to my wife to prove I'm not wasting my time. :-)
How many miles per year? Term, MSRP?
1. Vin: read your reply to my wife...she was amused, and now she hopes I am done spending 24/7 researching cars.
2. Ton Tonn:

Nice! What trim level? Will you be able to get service in AZ? Do you still have the FFE?
So did you get a 500e from another dealer?
But to answer your question about miscellaneous fees, here are numbers from my lease last March of a 500e:
Monthly payment $99
Registration Fees $209
Title Fees $81
Acquisition N/A (I have no idea what this is really for. The dealer ignored it.)
Document Processing $80
CA Tire Fee $7
Electronic Vehicle Registration (not a govt. fee) $29
Tax Document Fee $6.40
Tax80 on Rebate (Capitalized Cost Reduction) $777
These all TOTAL $1,190 (not including first month lease cost)
Wow, waiting is definitely a smart move! Yes, please let me know how it goes... good luck!
Down payment - $2500 (in approximately 45 days you will receive the state rebate back which would make this $0 net)
Acquisition Fee from bank - $1195
Drives (tax,tag,license,first payment,etc) - $1,655
Total upfront - $5350 ($2850 net after rebate)
Monthly payment - $68 + tax = $74.12
TOTAL 3 year cost of leasing with those numbers: $5444.20
Hi I was wondering if you could give a break down of the Chevy Spark EV deal ($84 a month). I live in Southern California and the lowest I have been able to find is about $140 a month. Even if it is expired I would like to know for future reference. Thanks
Hi Darrell - I used leasehackr.com's lease calculator to estimate the Spark EV lease. Used the following:
$25995 MSRP
$25995 purchase price
$9850 taxed incentive(got this from Dublin, Community and Mark Christopher lease ads)
10,000 miles/year
$0 down
I left everything else as default (i.e. acq fee, money factor, etc).
Is there a non-California, non CARB state version of this? The rest of us are feeling totally left out. =(
At this point I primarily depend on folks to tell me if they see a deal online that I can link to (thanks to all that have helped!).
Sorry anon, I'm trying!
Thanks Shawn!! What a deal! I'll update the list(s) tonight.
Looking for a Fiat500E lease deal. Based on your table, it seems like the best place to lease this is from Fiat of Glendale, correct? Thanks!
Yeah, $3K+ off would be a sweet deal. Would be great to hear what you find...
Is this a good deal? egolf 2k down, 250/mo for 36mo, 10k mi/yr. se w/ dc fast charge.
Again, this is just one opinion... if you have time I'd ask the folks on the eGolf forum:
http://www.myvwegolf.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=4
Good luck, let us know how it goes!
My first dealer reply, from Casa Fiat in the San Fernando Valley is for the EV-E for 36 months, 10K miles a year at these figures:
$2995 down inclusive of all drive offs
$149/month + tax = $5705
$8700 total cost
-$2500 CA rebate
$6200 net cost
Fiat Deals
We're now leaning toward the Fiat 500e or the Kia Soul EV. I have one more Fiat deal to report, in case folks are interested. First, though, the deals right now strongly favor folks with other makes on lease now, as that takes $1000 off the top and does not seem to be being applied in creative other ways to those not leasing other cars.
The March Deal from Fiat of Santa Monica:
Down payment - $2500 or $3500 (depending on whether you have a conquest lease)
Acquisition Fee from bank - $1195
Drives (tax, tag, license, first payment, etc.) - $1,655
Total upfront - $5350 ($2850 net after rebate)
Monthly payment - $68 + tax = $74.12
TOTAL 3 year cost of leasing with those numbers: $5444.20 or about $6529 (w/o conquest)
Fiat of Glendale Current Offer (not in writing yet)
Down: $2500
All drives: $1400
Total upfront: $3900
Rebate: -$2500
New upfront cost: $1400
Monthly payment: $3780 ($99 + tax= $108 x 35)
Total 3 year cost of leasing: $5180 (plus disposition fee)
I think the latter is about as good as it gets right now without the conquest fee. Anything better out there?
I just talked with Fiat of Orange County. Their deal seems better:
Total drive offs: $3500 ($2500 plus $1000 because of no conquest)
Rebate: -$2500
Monthly payment: $3750 ($99 + tax= $107 x 35)
Total cost of leasing: $4750
That's a great deal. For some folks, the lease may cost less than insurance and electricity!
I'm on the same boat as you. Considering the same two vehicles. Thanks for sharing and please keep me updated with what you decide!
This deal is also posted on their website. Very tempting...
Down: $1500
Drive offs: ~$400
Monthly: 67+tax x 35 = $2555
Total cost: $4555
Rebate: $4000
Net cost: $555
Net cost per month: $15.41
I leased a Spark EV from Stewart Chevy in Colma this Wednesday. They bet the Fremont dealer's quote for me. It costs:
Down: $1425
Monthly: $91.25
Just picked up a 2017 Volt with Leather and Comfort package from Fremont Chevy for $1200 drive off and $227/mo...way better than what everyone else was offering.
Thanks for reporting!!! I will add Colma Chevy to the list.
Wow... I'm gonna have to fly up north when my Gen 1 lease is up. Deals like that don't seem to exist on well-equipped Volts here in So Cal.
1500 customer cash down , and $9850 CCR Lesee responsible at lease end for mileage in excess of 10000 per year at 25 cents per mile 5 at this lease
Lease terms end or change at 30000 miles
Yes, that's what it sounds like. Gotta bring your own loan and/or cash or outside leasing company.
Hi vin, do you mind sharing the deal you got on the B-Class ED? I am looking to lease one soon. Thanks!
Hi All,
Just wanted to report my lease. Kia EV Base model (not the lower end EV-E or the top end +), 36 months, 10,000 miles a year, from Kia of Sherman Oaks.
Drive off: $3000 (including down, taxes, license, delivery, etc.)
Monthly: $170 (including tax and about $17 for lease protection which my wife wanted)
Total cost: $8950 (minus $2500 for me with my CA rebate)
It's not ideal, but I needed it now and it's far less than the nationally advertised lease (which, for this model, is $199/month plus tax and about a $3500 drive off for a total cost of about $11100, and that's without lease protection which is $600). Anyone interested in a Kia lease can use this as a baseline. Oh, incidentally, Kia leases include gap protection.
Good luck all!
What is the total drive-off currently for Spark EV low mileage lease?
Any lease info on the BMW 3 series plug-in?
Thanks!
Yes... $2500 down, $523/mo using BMW's build-your-own feature on their website. 3 years, 10K miles/year.
I'll add it to the list. Thanks for asking!!!
Thanks for asking!
Assuming you're talking about the $0 down $139/mo factory lease offer, here's an estimate
$0 + tax, lic drive-off = 0 +($9850*.09) + 400 = $1286.50
If the dealer charges doc fees, you'll need to add that too (maybe about $80).
Some guy did Joshua tree trip with his SparkEV, so I think you'll be fine with SoulEV. If you're nervous about range, just keep it slow. Have fun! :-)
thanks for assembling all this information and advice, vin. it's a huge timesaver!
Nazareth Ford in PA is offering $0 down,$199/month on Fusion Energi: Link
Thanks Nigel! I will add to the list tonight.
sparkev - I thought the $9850 rebate was taxable.
Vin,
Regarding the Fiat of Thousand Oaks offer of the last couple of days: it was an error.
Looks like your KIA deal are spot on for the $ but the mileage is 10K a year not 12K
Thanks! I'll correct it.
X5 link goes to the wrong car. Looks like it's no longer valid
Thanks for the heads-up! I'll update the dealer deals tonight. Weatherford seems to be quick with updating their website, so I'm sometimes out of sync with them since I usually only update on Fridays.
Nissan of Sunnyvale didn't honor the deal for Nissan SV. Their drive off cost was $5600 for the same monthly payment.
Looks like they pulled their SV offer from their website as of today (5/21). Was the $2999 down, $159/mo SV offer on their website when you talked to them? With $2999 down, I'd expect the total drive-off (including tax, lic, doc) to be about $4500, not $5600...
It was still on but the salesman told me the drive off cost was $5600 ($2999+tax+lic+doc+acq fee).
