Just an FYI, by watching Hyundai's inventory page I finally tracked down an Ioniq Electric that was available this week, at Keyes Hyundai in Van Nuys. Because of the hot demand, they are generally "pre-contracting" any allocation they get, and also forcing anyone who wants the unlimited mile subscription plan to accept another $75 / mo pre-tax in dealer extras.
I said "No" to this deal, holding out for another dealer who is willing to play this straight.
36 months lease/ Unlimited miles $2500 down ($2500 will be reimbursed by the state after purchase) $275 plus tax a month There are four additional items on the vehicle 1. Karr Alarm 2. 3M door protection 3. VTR vehicle theft registration, which adds a etched Vin number on each part of the vehicle to prevent theft. Also if your car is ever stolen, youll get a voucher for up to $5000 to insurance that your car will not be stolen. 4. Nitrogen Tires - Replaces Nitrogen in tires and gives better MPG and a longer life of the tires.
With these itmes, your payment will be $350 a month plus tax. Please let me know if you would like to move forward with pre contracting this vehicle.
Thanks for the great work on consolidating these! Have you been able to find any e-Golf 2017 deals already? There is no indication of the release date although they said it was going to be in July...Thanks!
I finalized a deal for Bolt EV MRSP $39500 2 packages + FC at $130/m +5000 drive off(includes all tax and fees). Current GM lessees get another $1000 rebate. Total incentives is $6000. 3yr total is about $9500(taxes,fees) before CA EV rebate $2500. Current CA EV rebate are only available for low income and others will be on a waitlist until new funding comes in.
I went into a leasing an EV 2 months ago. Now the dealer reduced the price by a lot of margin. I asked the dealer and now they are saying they cannot help unless I lease another new EV at a lower price now. That is ridiculous. what is the best way I can deal in this situation to reduce the payment per month of the existing lease, keeping the same car ?
The $8,900 price out the door with no monthly payments for LT + 2 pkgs + DC + forced extra charger makes the seat very bearable. :D
Deal was in Southern California with more than 1 dealer offering the price. Was told that last month had an additional $500 rebate. I did not have an existing lease to qualify for additional conquest rebates either.
I asked the dealer, and he said 'yes', but couldn't tell me exactly how much.
I had referenced Bob's post in the email exchange to the dealer, so when I got there, the form was for single payment.
If you plan to pay off the full amount via check, you can charge up to $5k on a credit card to earn some points and pay the balance at statemnt time to avoid finance charges.
Could you please provide more info on the dealer who can help me in applying the additional rebates to my existing lease ? Yes, I am an existing lessee; I just lease a Bolt 2 months back in May. Additional rebates have come through this month I suppose.
My experience with Quirk (VW (2 cars), Ford, Kia (2 cars)) has been positive and I've always been able to get the advertised deal (although sometimes it takes some work). I've been keeping an eye on their Bolt deals for a while and I'm chomping at the bit as timing isn't perfect yet. Hopefully pull the trigger in August/September.
Quirk's Bolt msrp is $37295 which is really basic LT. Also tax + fees not included which usually is about $2000(in CA). Still a good deal, but I suggest getting the confidence package for blind spots and rear parking assist.
@GalaxE You can't apply a manufacturer rebate after purchase.
Hi Vin- Love your website (and my new Bolt!) I have some questions about EV pricing data that I was hoping to get your insight on. Can you contact me at dreichmuth ucsusa.org ? Thanks!
Just received the $2,500 clean vehicle rebate check for my 2016 VW e-golf last week. Application was submitted mid-may, approved early-June, and rebate check sent late-July. So overall, about 2 1/2 months from application submittal to receiving the rebate check. Barely made it before they ran out of $$!
The lease special is for 36 months 10k per year $129 per month plus tax. That's with $2499 due at signing plus drive off which is due up front as well. Drive off includes acq fee, dmv fees and first payment. Total due at signing is $4338 to get to $129 per month. With the same amount down for 12K per year the payment would be $139 and for 15K per year $159 all payments plus tax.
@GalaxE i don't think you understand how leases work. Just because the the costs go down after you start a lease, you can't expect to get the lower payment on your existing lease. There is no "price protection"
Have any early thoughts on Model 3, Buy vs Lease? I doubt there will be any lease deals. Thinking it will make more sense to purchase? Thanks for running a great site, I appreciate your time and effort.
LOL! Good catch Steve, I appreciate the help. I need to practice what I preach and read the fine print. I will update the offer information accordingly. Thanks!!!
Hey Tony - Sorry I haven't replied... wanted to to some sort of analysis to back up my hunch but I haven't had the time. Anyway, my sense was initially the same as yours... Since the lease on a Model S is not much of a deal, I expected the lease on the Model 3 to be relatively unattractive. However, I just ran the numbers on Leasehackr's calculator, and if the mythical $35K Model 3 does actually come into existence, the Leasehackr calculator says the payment would be about $321/mo, with a total drive off of $1579. For what folks are saying will be the typically optioned Model 3 at $42K, the payment is still under $400. Great deal? Not really, considering a $38K Bolt can be had for nothing down and about $220/mo nowadays, if you are in CA or MA. But, even at $220/mo, I'm still not willing to get a Bolt today. If a Model 3 was available today for that $321/mo at this very moment, it would be sitting in my driveway tomorrow. So... will a Model 3 lease be a "killer deal" from a financial sense, compared to other $35K cars? I doubt it. But as far as bang for the buck, I'd put my own money on the Model 3 for $100/month more since it's a great price for a near-luxury, sporty sedan. But that's just me; if I were at a different stage in my life (i.e. just out of college), I'd forego the Model 3 and opt for a hot econohatch, and lease a Bolt.
I live in O.C. I just leased a Bolt LT CAR OPTIONS = Bolt LT $36,620.00 + DC Fast charging $750.00 + Comfort and Convenience Pkg $555.00 + Driver Confidence Pkg $495.00 + False Cargo Floor $100.00 = $38520.00 + Destination Charge $875.00 = $39,395.00
I did a one time payment of $7,207 plus sales tax and license for a 10,000 mile 36 month lease. NO MONTHLY PAYMENTS. Then after 1 1/2 months I received the $2,500 rebate from the state.
Call Marci Adishian Camino Real Chevrolet 310-291-6939. They will deliver the car to you for free.
The VW Serramonte web site says the eGolf deal has $625 acquisition fee, $350 disposition fee, assumes you qualify for the $500 college grad rebate, among other hidden fees. In the end, the deal is not nearly as good as one might think.
FYI here's a Leaf offer from Nissan of Portland, that did not appear to make the listrip. 149 per month and $1000 plus $595 DMV fees down https://nissanofportland.com/new-specials/
Hi Chaz - the fine print I see on that deal says it expired on 7/31, so I took it off of the list after the first week on August. Do you see a different expiration date?
Vin Thanks for the great job you do. We are looking at two cars, one model 3 and maybe one bolt. The bolt deals look like they continue to get better, wondering when the right time is. Thanks again for all your hard work, much appreciated.
Tony, I'm also considering both cars. I drove the bolt, it's decent. I want to pull the trigger but I think we will be seeing better deals near the end of the year, specially if we consider the CA bill that might pass regarding EV rebates (if you are in CA).
David The CA rebate is something I'm following closely, and just might pass. Bolt does drive nicely, I just wish it has traffic aware cruise control. Wonder if the 2018 Bolt will have any changes?
Vin - Is it possible to add another column listing the trim (LT/PREM/etc) on the Bolt (and other car) leases? It hard to compare when the trims are not specially listed.
Thanks for all your hard work! I've sent many people to your site....
Thanks for putting this together! One that has been consistent in NY advertising great lease prices for the Bolt over the summer is Van Bortel Chevy. This lease special page updates weekly after they run the newspaper add...
Tony - as far as the right time to get a Bolt, I think it's now or real soon, if you're happy with the 2017 and live in CA, especially So Cal, or in Braintree, MA where Quirk is, and want to lease. At less than $250/mo+tax+lic average cost it seems to be a relative bargain for those that need the longer range. If it goes lower, I suspect it won't be for long.
Ton - are you talking about adding a column to the "Details and Links" table? Let me know, but first let me know what you think about the first table on the "Sorts and Filters" page, particularly whether or not that provides what you are looking for. Since I sort that table alphabetically by make/model, the trim level of each model end up being grouped together and sorted by lowest to highest $/mo.
Dave R - thanks for the tip! I'm tracking them now. Appreciate the help!!!
Thank you for putting this together. May I ask, what's an reasonable Total Cost/Drive off right now on BOLT 2017 and LT.
The dealer advertised $109/mo + tax $3995 due from customers 3-year total drive off: 8995+Taxes, or $10500 (including Taxes,Title, Licenses) 10K miles/year $0.26+/mi* embedded $2600 fees and other costs
Hi Catherine - $10500 total cost for the lease sounds close, albeit on the high side. With the terms you stated, I'd ballpark it at something between $9K and $10K. Which dealer ad are you looking at?
I'm not understanding the Fiat 500e between OCFiat and Bob Baker Fiat. The Best Dealer Offers list has Bob Baker on top, but the Details and Links show Bob Baker's 3 year total higher than OCFiat, as well as the cost per mile. What's the difference? I've looked at both, and both require the $2,500 down, representing the California rebate (which is presently only funded for limited income candidates), but Bob Baker is asking $1,499 on top of that.
I interpreted the fine print in the Bob Baker ad as including initial tax and license in the drive-off, so we would only have to write a $3499 check to Bob Baker to take the car home with that $69/mo payment. In contrast, I interpreted the OC Fiat fine print to require us to pay $2500 initial tax (which includes tax on rebates) + license to drive off with the car and a $79/mo payment. So, by my calculation, the Bob Baker deal is cheaper over the life of the lease.
For the ranking table, I subtracted an estimated tax and license in the Bob Baker deal so we can make an apples-to apples comparison within the table. There are a number of dealers I had to do this for, but they are in the minority.
Hope that clears it up; let me know if it doesn't. Or if you talk to the two dealers, let me know if my interpretations of their fine print are off; I can adjust accordingly.
Thanks Vin. FYI, I did talk to OCFiat and was told that $675 would cover the tax and license, so I could drive off for $3,175 and $79 a month. If true that would give OCFiat the edge. But, alas, until I drive off with that, who knows? I'm in no way an expert on leasing, so I'll report results if I take the bait. Thanks for all you do!
thanks for the tons of work you are doing on this blog! just wondering if the bolt deal on fremont chevy is premier or lt. awesome deal if it is indeed premier, but the site shows similar number for an lt model. thanks in advanced.
Thanks for the help Mike! I corrected the Details and Links table, other tables will be done this weekend. Bummer that it's not for the Premier trim.
Dave - thanks for the info, $675 is a lot less than I'm estimating, which is a bit over $1000, for tax and license. If you pull the trigger, let me know what total drive-off breakdown is and I will adjust my calculations for the 500e offers that are all-in. Thanks!!!
I've been talking with Fremont Chevy and they said $5,291 due at signing, $109+tax/month, so $9,215 over 36 months (if I understand your calculations correctly; new to the site!) On the plus side, Boardwalk quoted me at $195.95+tax/month $0 down, so we're going to check that out tomorrow! Thanks for the great site! *Both 10,000 miles a year, both LTs.
Please re-check the Bob Baker Fiat 500e. The banner ad says they want the $2,500 rebate plus $1,499 down. That totals $3,999 drive-off, not $3,499. Am I missing something?
Brain fart. I corrected it on the "Details and Links" table. Ranking tables will reflect the correction on the next update (this weekend). Thanks Dave!!!
Checked out Fremont Chevy and Boardwalk yesterday and today. Boardwalk: The deal is for a car with the MSRP of $38,640, total $8,526.20 over the course of the lease. That's pretty much the LT with the DC Fast Charging. We wanted an LT with DC fast charging, the Comfort and Convenience Package, and the Driver Confidence Package, MSRP $39,495. They offered us $234/mth for 36 months, 30k miles, $0 down (plus taxes, title, and licensing fees.) Total for the 36 months (including tax, title, licensing, all in) is approximately $9752. Fremont: Offered $9600 all in for everything above. They are convincing that they will beat anyone's offer around. Capitol: We liked these guys the best, for being very upfront, but I don't know if they can match pricing. Remember, in CA, you can still apply for the $2500 rebate, plus if you have PG&E, you get another $500. That all said, now we think we may buy since we're thinking this car will go almost 20k mi/year. Go figure. ¯\_(ć)_/¯ I'm still going to give all three a shot at our business. If we score something extraordinary, I'll let you know!
@Carlene, Thank you for sharing. I am checking on the same options, either LT+ DC+ Comfort and Convenience+ Driver Confidence, including taxes and all fees, drive off; all Premium options
bob, if you dont mind, how much was the total payment including taxes and fees? looks like a good deal esp the rebate was still on. i live next to that dealer and got a killer deal on my spark ev :)
It looks like the MA tax rebate will be ending this month or early October due to the exhausting of available funds. Hopefully the deals will get better due to this.
Yup, my wife was demanding that I track the Pacifica Plug-in. She's kinda pissed that there's been a hiccup in production. All I've got on the list is Chrysler's factory offer, which sucks big time because it doesn't pass on the federal incentive. No dealer offers from what I've seen. it's hard enough to find one in dealer inventory. I think we're gonna be better off buying instead of leasing well into next year; there's really no need for Chrysler to offer killer lease deals due to very high interest and the fact they actually set the MSRP at the right level. Foolishly, I told her that the Mercedes GLE550e leases for about the same amount as the Platinum, probably less if I use the fleet discount. So guess what? Now she wants one of those instead. There's an ICE version (GLE350) in our driveway - a loaner - that she's been using for the past week because her B-Class ED is in the shop, so now she really wants the GLE instead of the Pacifica. I just found a white Pacifica Platinum that's actually on the dealer lot instead of "in transit", so we might check it out so I can wean her off of the GLE. Wish me luck.
Hi Vin, Thanks for your helpful website! I'm sorry I didn't come across it sooner. I've called Team VW re: their 2016 E-Golf and they say they don't have any in stock. Premier Nissan in San Jose doesn't have the two Leafs advertised on their website. I'm thinking of doing the Honda Fit EV lease for 2 years at $199/mo just b/c it seems the simplest for the short term. I went to speak to the dealer and asked about a warranty in case the battery dies prematurely, etc. He said that there's no warranty and I'd have to buy one. This doesn't seem right. Shouldn't a 2014 Fit Ev still have factory warranty? This makes me want to forget about the Fit and then go for the Soul or Bolt (spending the least about of $ being the biggest factor). Would appreciate your thoughts!
Hey, Pearl! Bummer that the fit doesn't come with some sort of factory bumper to bumper warranty. That being said, by California law all EV batteries must be warranted for 10 years/150K miles by the manufacturer:
https://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/warranty.pdf
So if you're only worried about the battery, you should be covered.
That being said, I think the best value in your area based on the data collected here is a Bolt from Boardwalk Chevy or Tracy Chevy. Drive-off will probably be more than the used Fit EV due to sales tax on the incentives, but at least you'll be saving a few bucks a month and driving a brand new, fully warranted vehicle. That's my vote.
Vin- I believe that the 10 year / 150 k battery warranty only applies to vehicles certified to the PZEV standard, which were mostly non-plug-in hybrids. BEVs get ZEV credits and do not have a warranty requirement.
I was able to use the PZEV terms to get my Camry Hybrid battery replaced, but for BEVs it's up to the manufacturer to set the terms as they see fit.
Anish - the $160/mo+tax+lic average cost per month is based on their online ad, which says $59/mo+tax for 2 years, $2500+tax+lic to start.
Is the $4800 drive off what they quoted you, or is that in an ad (i.e. newspaper, email)? Does that include tax and license? I'm figuring the tax on the $11500 incentive should be about $1035, and license should be about $400, making the total drive off $2500+1035+400 = $3935, which is about 20% less than the $4800 you are seeing. If they quoted you $4800 total drive-off, I'd ask for a breakdown of that drive-off... sounds a bit inflated.
Hi, I checked with longbeach BMW they said the $189 offer is still valid, quote: "We have the $189 deal but to qualify, you have to currently drive an i3 and the msrp of the car for the special is around $50,500"
they also offer free upgrade to 5 years CPO warranty (instead of 4 years)
Supre bad experience with Fremont Chevy. Don't trust these guys! They SMS you a quote number, and said will be better after you go there. But when you really present, they even couldn't match the SMS quote. Concur with some comments below, never ever do business with them!
Vin, I posted here before. On top of the $2,500 and $1,000 conquest rebate, you keep forgetting the $1,499 that Bob Baker is asking for cash down. It's way more than you are showing. You list OCFiat as number four, but I went to both, and Bob Baker said they couldn't touch the OC Fiat offer. I pulled the trigger on a weekend special at OC covering all upfront costs and first months payment so all I owed beyond $79 a month was the $2,500 which I hope California will pay me back.
Hi Dave - I am including the $1499 for a total of $3999 due at signing; their ad implies that this is a total drive-off, so I subtract estimated initial tax (assuming they tax the $8500 in incentives) on the ranking table for comparison purposes. Is that not the case in your experience? What was the total drive-off Bob Baker was asking you to cough up?
Also - Are you saying that OC Fiat asked for nothing more than $2500 at signing?
Thanks Dave, I will adjust accordingly based on your responses.
I never got a number from Bob Baker. They just said they couldn't touch the OCFiat offer. Yes, I drove away from OCFiat for $2,500 flat and nothing more. They covered all else, including first month's payment. That last part was a one weekend unadvertised special. So normally, it was $2,500 plus around $650 in other fees, plus $1,000 if you don't presently lease. I qualified for the $1,000 conquest rebate because i presently lease a chevy spark.
That deal at Muzi in MA for the Bolt Premiere for $185 with zero down is actually for an LT. Also note "Includes comp. lease, must finance with dealer and trade 08 or newer."
Thanks. Your site helped me in my search tremendously. we ended up getting a Bolt LT with Level 3 fast charge and two packages for just over 250 a month and 0 down from Boardwalk Chevy in Redwood City. 36 months 10k miles a year. They didn't have the base model shown on this site at 200 a month. I was happy to get the fast charge and bells/whistles. We also got the 700 from Costco as members. It is called the Costco Holiday Sales Event if you want to check out details.
Thanks again. I felt educated going into the lease.
Victor Chevy ( http://www.victorchevrolet.com/Weekly-Specials ) is advertising a $109 BOLT LT lease deal with $2K down + tax and acquisition fees. A friend thought it sounded too good to be true and ended up with his second Bolt lease after checking it out, very close to a tie for your lowest cost Bolt lease...
Can you add/ append the trim levels of the Bolt and Volt in your "Best Dealers Lease offers..." table?
It's great that its sorted by total price but it's impossible to determine if the Bolt at $199 and the one at $99 are the same trim levels. If it stated which trim level (LT or PREM) it would be simple to see which Bolt at a certain trim level was the cheapest at a glance.
Oops! Thanks Dave, I fixed it. Still had their offer on the "Details and Links" table, but it got filtered out of the ranking table because I didn't update their expiration date. I appreciate the help!
Ton - yes, I can roll in that change. Currently I only include the trim level if it's a Premier. Currently if it is unspecified, it's an LT (or 2LT, but is that an "official" trim level?). Thanks for the feedback!
I don't see the Honda Clarity Electric listed in your chart, though it's mentioned (with old pricing info) lower on the page. Just picked one up last night, and the Honda web site has the new pricing: https://automobiles.honda.com/clarity-electric -- $199/mo with $899 due at signing (excluding tax, registration, license, etc.). That's quite a drop and the cars are starting to disappear now... Some dealers seem very willing to take an old LEAF in trade, which makes leasing a Clarity EV cheaper than replacing the battery in an old (owned) LEAF. Laugh all you want at the 89 mile range of the Clarity EV but it's double what we were getting on our LEAF and as a commuter car it works for us. The biggest factor by far is better visibility for the driver, as even the latest 2018 LEAF still has visibility-blocking pillars.
Thanks for the tip on the improved Clarity Electric lease offer! And congrats on picking one up for yourself! I updated the factory lease offer ranking table with the new numbers. I'm with you on short-range EVs... my daily commuter is now our B-Class ED, and 90 miles of range is plenty to get me to work and back.
Why does Massachusetts seem to have the best Chevy Bolt lease prices? Has anyone from far way (like say San Francisco where I live) bought a car from them and found it to be a good deal? I don't know if there are deal breakers that make it unworkable, like car shipping or local taxes. To me, it seems tempting to try to make it work. Quirks and some of the others are always the cheapest Bolt in the bunch.
Jim - I'd suggest talking to Boardwalk Chevy over in Redwood City, they have the second lowest Bolt EV lease deal in the nation this week, at about $13/mo more than Quirk. That adds up to less than $500 over the three year lease. I suspect that shipping from MA would be substantially more.
Still seems confusing... I see you added the Clarity to the list of EVs, but in the weekly "best dealer lease offers" it should show up pretty high in the list for overall cost, available from any Honda-Clarity dealer... instead if people are only looking in that list they'll never see it since it's not there...?
Here's the distinction: The Dealer Lease Offer ranking table consists of published dealer offers that are only valid at that dealer, while the Factory Lease Offer ranking table consists offers that are published by the manufacturer, and should therefore be valid at most if not all dealers that sell new vehicles made by that manufacturer. I am not planning on co-mingling that data on one table on this page, but I may add a new table to the "Sorts and Filters" page.
I am hoping that people look through both tables, especially if they can't find the model they are looking for on the fist table. I really hope that folks are using the "Details and Links" table more than anything else here, because that's where they can click through to get the latest data straight from the horse's mouth. Numbers on the first two tables can go stale pretty quickly.
Same comment again as before, looks like all the NY Bolt lease offers disappeared from your list. Most of them repeat every week so maybe you need a flag to recheck on expiration date instead of automatically dropping them by default?
Jim - I am planning to get a bolt and looking at lease offers in the bay area. Did you lease the bolt already or any competitive lease offers you found during your search here? Appreciate your help.
Dave - thanks again for the help. I check every current offer by Saturday or Sunday of the week. Last weekend when I checked, Victor offer was not longer there, and Van Bortel offer expired on 11/11. I don't automatically drop them.
I see that the Victor offer is back on their scrolling marquee, and that the Van Bortel offer is still expired (11/11). So I added the Victor offer back into the "Details and Links" table, but not the expired Van Bortel Chevy offer.
Hi All, I may be the last to know about it, but I just realised that PG&E (California electric company) has a $500 EV incentive. I leased my Soul in Oct 2016, and applied in Nov 2017. 48 hour approval. So if any of you haven't done it already, https://www.pge.com/en_US/residential/solar-and-vehicles/options/clean-vehicles/electric/clean-fuel-rebate-for-electric-vehicles.page
I think someone mentioned Mark Christopher Chevy, but the comment was deleted. Anyone know if it is a reputable place to purchase the Bolt? Sounds like a good offer at 199 + Tax and 1020 drive off...
Bob Johnson has a Bolt lease deal back this week @ $168 https://www.rjchevrolet.com/WEEKLY-AD-NEW#close
And Hoselton has a Bolt sign and drive @ $249 http://www.hoseltonchevrolet.com/rochester-chevy-specials
If you look to the left side of the Bob Johnson add they also always run a "we beat any published lease deal by $20/mo" coupon making the Hoselton sign and drive deal $229
Only thing is dealer stock appears to be getting low in Upstate NY for Bolts, much less than available stock over the Summer and Fall
Apparently the BMW i3 is on a stop sale (started Nov. 21, 2017), and according to Concord BMW they don't know when they'll be able to actually sell one (which is surprising that they put out a lease deal on them given the stop sale). They also told me they don't know if the deal will still be available when they can sell them.
I just leased a clarity. Typical dealers will want 199+tax and 899 + Tax, title reg. Total comes out to be 215 a month plus 1450 give or take. My specific dealer gave me a small incentive, 199+Tax and just 899 flat including all fees.
Car drives great and is easy to use. Let me know if you have any questions.
SF Honda, I worked with Steven Lee, he was a no BS kinda guy. He told it how it was. Not sure if he can still get the deal because there weren't many cars left.
Whoever is administrating this forum: do you have the option of reversing the order in which forum messages are sorted? It makes zero sense to put the oldest comments at the top of the page of any forum. When you have a subject like electric cars where timeliness is so incredibly important, then the issue is of even greater importance.
Just picked up the Clarity Electric, nice car and a great deal. 199/month and 899 down Still learning new things everyday while driving. Thanks Tony Siu for the info, I bought in SoCal. Thanks Vin for all your hard work in hosting this site.
I am about to take over a 2017 Bolt lease. The lease started 10/10/2017 in the San Francisco Bay Area. The lease holder applied to get the $2500 California grant and was told that he made too much money. My question is whether I can apply for that grant, given that I am not afflicted by enormous income. He told me that only one person can apply for this, and since he tried and failed to get it, I would not be able too. I wonder if anyone out there has any alternative opinion?
Sorry @Jim McCall you will not be able to apply for the $2500 once the car is registered. That car would be considered used and used cars don't qualify. I believe your Power Company can still apply for a small $500 rebate, but the big one is gone.
If I purchase a model 3, then sell that model 3 to a friend of mine, am I still eligible to receive the 2500 CA rebate and the Federal 7500 rebate? Thanks for any help. Happy Holidays!
I'm doing research on leasing my next ev and discovered this blog. I just wanted to drop a message saying thank you to vin for putting all this information in one place. I can imagine a lot of blood, sweat, and tears have been put into this.
Mpdezner-so sorry I accidentally deleted your comment while responding, you are NOT being moderated! Sorry to hear about your crappy experience with Stewart Chevrolet, sounds like you were really jerked around and misled. Looks like they removed the leasedeal from their website, so I pulled it from the list while doing this week's update.
@VIN - okay, I assumed you didn't want any negativity on your blog :-). I did a thorough research and got multiple assurances from Stewart Chevrolet over the phone before I went to the dealership - but jumping the price up from $0.30/mi to $0.51/mi, i.e. from $9055 to $15398 for the entire lease, because of a $800 DC fast charger - a 60% increase - that is unprofessional. Stewart Chevrolet just doesn't deserve to be on your blog.
I ended up leasing a Bolt EV Premier with all extra options for $13500 or $0.44/mi - $0.36/mi after CA incentive at Platinum Chevrolet in Santa Rosa. I can recommend Platinum Chevrolet in Santa Rosa, phone 707-525-1800, talk to Scott Daniels.
Just wanted to post my lease deal from Capitol Chevrolet in San Jose: Black Chevy Bold Premier Lease 36mo, 15k miles / year $5000 drive off $291/mo $380(ish) disposition fee
Hey, if either of you have a great picture of your ride and you don't mind me using it as a background on this page, post it somewhere and let me know. Holiday photo of our Pac Hybrid has been up too long, time to change it out...

«Oldest ‹Older 601 – 725 of 725Just an FYI, by watching Hyundai's inventory page I finally tracked down an Ioniq Electric that was available this week, at Keyes Hyundai in Van Nuys.
36 months lease/ Unlimited miles
$2500 down ($2500 will be reimbursed by the state after purchase)
$275 plus tax a month
There are four additional items on the vehicle
1. Karr Alarm
2. 3M door protection
Hello
I went into a leasing an EV 2 months ago. Now the dealer reduced the price by a lot of margin. I asked the dealer and now they are saying they cannot help unless I lease another new EV at a lower price now. That is ridiculous.
what is the best way I can deal in this situation to reduce the payment per month of the existing lease, keeping the same car ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you.
Forgot to thank Bob for the Bolt EV lease inspiration!
is it an incentive for the dealer if we make a one out the door payment with no monthlies? or does it not matter except for the total payments?
I asked the dealer, and he said 'yes', but couldn't tell me exactly how much.
I had referenced Bob's post in the email exchange to the dealer, so when I got there, the form was for single payment.
If you plan to pay off the full amount via check, you can charge up to $5k on a credit card to earn some points and pay the balance at statemnt time to avoid finance charges.
@MLB Garage Ebay Store:
Could you please provide more info on the dealer who can help me in applying the additional rebates to my existing lease ? Yes, I am an existing lessee; I just lease a Bolt 2 months back in May. Additional rebates have come through this month I suppose.
thank you
My experience with Quirk (VW (2 cars), Ford, Kia (2 cars)) has been positive and I've always been able to get the advertised deal (although sometimes it takes some work).
@GalaxE
You can't apply a manufacturer rebate after purchase.
Thanks Steve P! Appreciate your input.
Fabio - still no info on the new e-Golf... Still waiting...
Hi Vin-
Love your website (and my new Bolt!)
I have some questions about EV pricing data that I was hoping to get your insight on. Can you contact me at dreichmuth ucsusa.org ?
Thanks!
Last weekend I got a Premier, in Orange, with DCFC, and both options packages. MSRP was $43,905.
3 year lease, 10k miles/ year.
Opted for a one pay lease of $8931, plus $595 acquisition fee, plus taxes. Total out the door, all in, single payment of $10,311.
I leased from Geoffrey Mallard at Nissan Bros (formerly Hooman), highly recommend him, no hassles and very responsive. 562-787-5972.
I also got great pricing from Trish at Buena Park, text her at 909-781-3640.
As an aside, we live in the SF bay area, but decided to buy in LA, fly down and drive the car back home. It was a fun weekend adventure.
Whoops, that should say Nissani Brothers, in Culver City. Not Nissan.
Bolt from Tracy Chevy:
The lease special is for 36 months 10k per year $129 per month plus tax. That's with $2499 due at signing plus drive off which is due up front as well. Drive off includes acq fee, dmv fees and first payment. Total due at signing is $4338 to get to $129 per month. With the same amount down for 12K per year the payment would be $139 and for 15K per year $159 all payments plus tax.
Hi Brian
I am right now on a 12k Bolt lease for 265/- per month. Can Tracy start a new lease with this lower payment ?
@GalaxE i don't think you understand how leases work. Just because the the costs go down after you start a lease, you can't expect to get the lower payment on your existing lease. There is no "price protection"
Have any early thoughts on Model 3, Buy vs Lease?
I doubt there will be any lease deals.
Thinking it will make more sense to purchase?
Thanks for running a great site, I appreciate your time and effort.
Vin,
That Mossy VW deal is $4 a day for the lease, not $4 a month. Sorry for the bad news. :-(
Hi Vin,
I just wondering where you can get a lease of Bolt for $220 a month. I am in Southern CA. Thanks advance for any detail.
Qi
Thanks for the detail info.
Thanks!!!
Vin
Thanks for the great job you do.
David
The CA rebate is something I'm following closely, and just might pass. Bolt does drive nicely, I just wish it has traffic aware cruise control. Wonder if the 2018 Bolt will have any changes?
Tony, I believe the 2018 will have it (read it online so must be true), but probably in the premier version with driver assistance II package.
This lease special page updates weekly after they run the newspaper add...
http://www.vanbortelchevrolet.net/Lease-Specials
Tony, Ton, Dave R - thanks for the kind words!
The dealer advertised
$109/mo + tax
$3995 due from customers
3-year total drive off: 8995+Taxes, or $10500 (including Taxes,Title, Licenses)
10K miles/year
$0.26+/mi*
embedded $2600 fees and other costs
Does it sound right?
Hi Catherine - $10500 total cost for the lease sounds close, albeit on the high side. With the terms you stated, I'd ballpark it at something between $9K and $10K. Which dealer ad are you looking at?
Hi Vin,
Its with Fremontf Chevy. Its only an Bolt LT 2017. Yes, I figured that should be less than mid $8K.
Thanks
I'm not understanding the Fiat 500e between OCFiat and Bob Baker Fiat. The Best Dealer Offers list has Bob Baker on top, but the Details and Links show Bob Baker's 3 year total higher than OCFiat, as well as the cost per mile. What's the difference? I've looked at both, and both require the $2,500 down, representing the California rebate (which is presently only funded for limited income candidates), but Bob Baker is asking $1,499 on top of that.
Hi Dave -
I interpreted the fine print in the Bob Baker ad as including initial tax and license in the drive-off, so we would only have to write a $3499 check to Bob Baker to take the car home with that $69/mo payment.
Thanks!
Thanks!!!
Premier Nissan of San Jose advertises the Leaf lease special at $229/month with $1,999 down for 36 months. Where are you seeing the deal you posted?
Hi Jon -
I see it when I click on the Premier Nissan of San Jose link in the "Details and Links" table. Here's the URL:
http://www.nissanofsanjose.com/new-vehicle-specials
If you've already tried that... Are you on a smartphone? Sometimes dealers don't have all the info available on their mobile websites.
The offer you are seeing looks like the factory offer, not the dealer's offer.
Let me know if you still can't see the $59/mo offer after trying the link on a desktop.
@carlene - did you get a chance to check out the Boardwalk deal? How much exactly did they quote it everything included?
@carlene - thank you so much for the update. You should tell them there is bunch of others waiting on your update. They might have more business.
@Carlene,
Thank you for sharing. I am checking on the same options, either LT+ DC+ Comfort and Convenience+ Driver Confidence, including taxes and all fees, drive off; all Premium options
Appreciate your inputs!
@carlene CA $2,500 rebate has been dead since June
Check out my August 15, 2017 posting on my 2017 Bolt EV. Somebody let me know if they got a better deal.
bob, if you dont mind, how much was the total payment including taxes and fees? looks like a good deal esp the rebate was still on. i live next to that dealer and got a killer deal on my spark ev :)
It looks like the MA tax rebate will be ending this month or early October due to the exhausting of available funds. Hopefully the deals will get better due to this.
Are you starting to track the Chrysler Pacifica Plugin Hybrid (PHEV)? I think it's the only PHEV minivan available at the moment.
Hey Vin
Why did you remove my August 25th post?
Sorry
My post is still there. It was August 15th
Hi Vin,
Thanks for your helpful website!
Let me know what you end up doing... Thanks!
Hey Bob - I would never intentionally delete one of your posts!!! :)
That being said, I have accidentally deleted a couple of posts when getting rid of spam. I think I was half-awake. Been more careful since then...
Thanks for the correction, Dave. I re-read the info and now understand. I appreciate your help!
@carlene any news on your Bolt? I'd love to hear how your deal went as I'm now in the market for a Bolt. Thanks!
Premier Nissan of San jose is asking for $4800 drive off and $59 per month plus tax which bring it way much higher than $160 as mentioned.
Thanks Steve! I fixed the dealer lease offer ranking table and one of the sorts and filters tables, no longer says "Premier". I appreciate your help!
I felt educated going into the lease.
occhevy.com is having chevy volt for 199 and 0 down
Victor Chevy ( http://www.victorchevrolet.com/Weekly-Specials ) is advertising a $109 BOLT LT lease deal with $2K down + tax and acquisition fees. A friend thought it sounded too good to be true and ended up with his second Bolt lease after checking it out, very close to a tie for your lowest cost Bolt lease...
Vin,
Boardwalk says they are out of Bolts as of November 1.
Paul Gipe
"is advertising a $109 BOLT LT lease deal with $2K down " changed to $118 on Nov 1st
Thanks in advance and keep up the great work!
looks like Victor fell off your updated list ? They still offer the $118/mo
http://www.victorchevrolet.com/Weekly-Specials
Paul, Swetha - belated thanks for the help!
I don't think Quirk will deal out of the area.
Most of them repeat every week so maybe you need a flag to recheck on expiration date instead of automatically dropping them by default?
http://www.victorchevrolet.com/Weekly-Specials ($118 / mo)
http://www.vanbortelchevrolet.net/ ($229 / mo with nothing down)
* Watch, now that I said that no one will renew the offers for December ;-)
Honda Clarity down to $199 with $899 down.

Okay I fixed it. Apparently I blew away the Clarity update when added the VW offer. Thanks for the help!
Hi All,
I may be the last to know about it, but I just realised that PG&E (California electric company) has a $500 EV incentive.
I just checked with Boardwalk Chevy, they are all sold out of Bolts for a couple weeks or more. Would not even talk numbers...
Anyone have a good Bolt deal that is close to Quirk numbers in California?
I think someone mentioned Mark Christopher Chevy, but the comment was deleted. Anyone know if it is a reputable place to purchase the Bolt? Sounds like a good offer at 199 + Tax and 1020 drive off...
Help appreciated.
Thank you!
Bob Johnson has a Bolt lease deal back this week @ $168
https://www.rjchevrolet.com/WEEKLY-AD-NEW#close
And Hoselton has a Bolt sign and drive @ $249
http://www.hoseltonchevrolet.com/rochester-chevy-specials
If you look to the left side of the Bob Johnson add they also always run a "we beat any published lease deal by $20/mo" coupon making the Hoselton sign and drive deal $229
Only thing is dealer stock appears to be getting low in Upstate NY for Bolts, much less than available stock over the Summer and Fall
oh, and Van Bortel has a Volt Sign and Drive lease for $269/mo (Or $249/mo @ Bob Johnson)
http://www.vanbortelchevrolet.net/Lease-Specials
Fuccilo Kia has an incredible deal for a Soul EV (Base) , $169 /month + TTL
https://www.fuccillokiaschenectady.com/all-specials/
The reason this deal is so good is that NY bundles a $2000 instant rebate (California makes you fill out forms for example)
Anyone Lease the Honda Clarity Electric yet?
899 down and 199/month seems like a good deal!
.13/mile
I just leased a clarity. Typical dealers will want 199+tax and 899 + Tax, title reg. Total comes out to be 215 a month plus 1450 give or take. My specific dealer gave me a small incentive, 199+Tax and just 899 flat including all fees.
Car drives great and is easy to use. Let me know if you have any questions.
Tony Siu
Thanks for the great information.
What dealership did you go through?
SF Honda, I worked with Steven Lee, he was a no BS kinda guy. He told it how it was. Not sure if he can still get the deal because there weren't many cars left.
The Concord BMW i3 lease is for 24 months.
199/month and 899 down
Still learning new things everyday while driving.
Thanks Tony Siu for the info, I bought in SoCal.
Thanks Vin for all your hard work in hosting this site.
If your still looking for deals, go check out Elk Grove Ford, they have a pretty great finance department that helped me out with my car!
@Jim McCall
You can only apply for a rebate if you buy or lease the car new. I believe taking over a lease doesn't qualify you as buying/leasing new.
Sorry @Jim McCall you will not be able to apply for the $2500 once the car is registered. That car would be considered used and used cars don't qualify.
I believe your Power Company can still apply for a small $500 rebate, but the big one is gone.
Jstar motors in Yorba Linda CA has a Fiat 500e for $69/month with $2500 due
https://www.jstarcdjrofanaheimhills.com/
If I purchase a model 3, then sell that model 3 to a friend of mine, am I still eligible to receive the 2500 CA rebate and the Federal 7500 rebate?
Thanks for any help. Happy Holidays!
Hi,
I'm doing research on leasing my next ev and discovered this blog. I just wanted to drop a message saying thank you to vin for putting all this information in one place. I can imagine a lot of blood, sweat, and tears have been put into this.
Super Valuable Information!!!
Thanks!
Mike
Mpdezner-so sorry I accidentally deleted your comment while responding, you are NOT being moderated! Sorry to hear about your crappy experience with Stewart Chevrolet, sounds like you were really jerked around and misled. Looks like they removed the leasedeal from their website, so I pulled it from the list while doing this week's update.
Again, sorry for deleting your post.
Just wanted to post my lease deal from Capitol Chevrolet in San Jose:
Black Chevy Bold Premier
Lease 36mo, 15k miles / year
$5000 drive off
$291/mo
$380(ish) disposition fee
Congrats on your new Bolts, mzpeder and NL!
Hey, if either of you have a great picture of your ride and you don't mind me using it as a background on this page, post it somewhere and let me know. Holiday photo of our Pac Hybrid has been up too long, time to change it out...
